I really love a good story, always have. So it shouldn’t be any surprise that history has always fascinated me. Here are a few of my favorite times and cultures.
What can I say? All roads lead to Rome. No, seriously, in History, they do; construction, warfare, laws, governance, these guys did it all, and they did it better than those before them and plenty of those after them too.
Freakin Bernard Cornwell! Like millions upon millions of middle-aged men worldwide, I followed Uthred from the Somerset marshes to Ethandon, and all the battles that followed. Along the way, I fell in love with the story of The Great Heathen Invasion and Alfred the Great and his descendants.
Come on, do I even need to explain why the Ancient Greeks rocked?
The phalanx, Olympics, mathematics, I could go on and on here, but I’m sure you get the point. They gave us some of history’s best thinkers, artists, and warriors.
